What is a retirement visa?

A Thai Retirement Visa—also known as the Non-Immigrant O Retirement Visa—allows foreigners aged 50 years and above to live in Thailand long-term. It is typically issued as a 1-year visa, renewable annually, and grants the holder the right to reside in Thailand without employment.
There are two main pathways:

  • Initial Application
  • Annual Renewal (Extension of Stay)

It is one of the most stable and straightforward long-stay visa options offered in Thailand, making it ideal for retirees who wish to settle down without unnecessary complications.
